5 Items to Incorporate the Western Trend Into Your Daily Wardrobe

At the Gucci S/S 19 show, models strutted down the runway in gigantic white cowboy hats that demonstrated the Western-inspired trend is here to stay. This trend is all about the details, which is why you only need to add a couple of pieces to your closet to jump on the bandwagon.

If you are ready to add a little more yeehaw to your outfits, read on for five items to incorporate the Western trend into your daily wardrobe.

1. The Cowboy Boot

Undoubtedly, the most accessible way to start incorporating the Western trend into your daily wardrobe is to invest in a pair of lace-up boots with a cowboy twist. There is a range of different options on the market, so you are guaranteed to find a pair with the right amount of detail for your comfort level.

A pair of western mules incorporates two trends in one and is a contemporary nod to the classic silhouette.

Of course, if you want to go all the way, then you are going to want to find cowboy boots that scream “Americana.” Pair these boots with a prairie dress or a pair of tailored pants or jeans for a rodeo-inspired ensemble (bucking bronco not required!).

2. The Denim Shirt

By this point, it is common knowledge that every wardrobe needs a versatile denim shirt. However, if you don’t currently have one (or you want one that is more reminiscent of cowboy garb), then this is the season to purchase one.

Look for something similar to the Saint Laurent western denim shirt which has a faded blue color, sophisticated black pearl snap buttons, and a traditional Western front yoke with coordinating pockets. For the perfect look, consider pairing this denim shirt with some high-waisted leather shorts, black sock leather ankle boots, and a silver link necklace.

3. The Western Dress

One of the best investments you can make in the Western trend is a beautiful bohemian printed dress that can be worn season after season. Keep in mind that these styles of dresses tend to look fabulous with snakeskin boots.

That being said, just because you are going for the Western look doesn’t mean that you can only wear paisley and print. In fact, cowgirls love to wear enchanting lace tops and ruffles with floral print rather than plaid. So, don’t be afraid of some frills on your Western dress.

Alternatively, upgrade your classic LBD and look for one with a rhinestone-studded collar and a pleated skirt.

4. The Printed Scarf

Bandana scarves have long been a favorite accessory for plenty of stylish women (Audrey Hepburn and Jackie O!). However, these days, you want to be exchanging your cotton bandanas for silk neckerchieves, which can often be found in your favorite vintage shops.

These vintage printed scarves look chic both worn around the neck and on your head for a triangle headscarf. Other ways to style it include wrapped around the handle of your go-to straw bag, tied back in your hair, and wrapped through the belt-loop of your denim. For an effortless look, bow it around your wrist.

If you are looking to invest in a scarf to wear for years to come, look at the options from Balenciaga.

5. The Leather Belt

Another simple way to include a western nod to any look is to add a leather belt. Look for one that cinches in your waistline and has subtle studs. Generally, a double buckle belt is too stylish not to purchase, while one with contrast stitching will give your outfit some major retro Western vibes.

Whatever kind of Western-inspired leather belt you decide to add to your wardrobe, you can be assured that it can be paired with most outfits. However, they tend to look particularly Western with indigo or stonewashed denim.
